The other day Jude turns to me and says, "Mommy, why don't you babysit?". I wasn't sure what he was asking, but he cleared it up by saying, "If you babysat kids here, then you wouldn't have to go to work. You wouldn't have to watch that many kids, and they would give you money." He sure is clever. I told him that I like my job and that I would not be staying home to babysit.
Recently I have had GREAT irritation with my daycare provider. We use an in-home daycare provider and as far as the care of my children and how much they like it there, well I am happy. It's her constant need for days off. REMINDER: I only work 2 days a week. I have kindly reminded her that if she needs days off that she needs to tell me BEFORE my schedule comes out. She also knows that recently we have had 3 people resign, and that effects me and my ability to get days off and switch my scheduled days.
She takes 2 week long vacations a year, and needs 11 days off in July, plus has asked for 4 off this month.
This has prompted me to seek out alternatives, and sent me to a traditional "day care center". I toured the facility and was pleased with the center and their hours. This would give my husband (who now has to pick up by 5:00 p.m.) the flexibility to pick up by 6 p.m.. The center has a lot of kids from their school, and bus service to the facility. The best part, it will not cost us much more!
Jason still needs to tour the facility, but I think it is a go. I was worried about what I was going to do with Jude next year when he was getting out of school at 3:30 anyway, and this will solve that problem.
I hope that all of this works out. Daycare issues are always a stress for me. This will hopefully alleviate some of the stress, but I am sure it will bring about new ones.

That will be nice for you to have more flexibility in pick up and such.
I could never watch kids in my home - Never, never, never....you would have to medicate me.
Yeah, babysit other kids.
it's hard enough some days to watch my own and their mine and I love them.
I could never never do it either. I think it's probably illegal to spank other peoples' kids.HAHA KIDDING(kind of) However, if I could get 2 weeks of vacay a year, 3 to 11(?!?) days off each month and everyone out by 5, why wouldn't I?!? Sounds like a nice gig.
Count me in on the couldn't do it either list. I am glad to hear you liked the new place.
This sounds perfect. That is huge that they have bus service to and from school.
