Juggling

Lily woke up a little sick today. She had a low grade fever of 99 and a croupy cough(croup isn't contagious.. just whatever is causing it.. just validating myself). No other symptoms. We have had my sister and her kids visiting (my next post) and before I had to leave for work, she spent the morning playing joyfully with them (hopefully not infecting them) So I sent her to my wonderful sitter dosed up with Tylenol and Ibuprofen.
Now, Jason is out of town (has been most of the week) and will not return until 11 pm. I do not get off work until 11 pm also. So my in laws thankfully rescue us by taking them this evening.
Thank goodness for them.
So I get to work today and there are 3 call offs. Some may be fine, but some are not. Some are people who call in all of the time. ANNOYING.
Here I am (feeling like a bad mom) sending my ill child off to the sitter because I know if she is sick, it will be worse tomorrow and I might have to call in ill. Jason has been out of the office all week, and I know he will need to be there tommorrow.
Last week, I worked on Friday with a GI virus (given to me by my kids last week.. what is our problem with the illness factor?). I spent the day taking care of people while I had stomach cramps and issues. Why? Because I know that I have to save my ill days for my kids. And I have a conscious about calling in to work and I am hoping to teach my kids a good work ethic.
Am I the best employee? NO. But, I think I am a hard worker and that I try to keep it in check.
So there is nothing more irritating ( to me) than laziness and the lack of respect and responsibility for your job. I wouldn't make a good manager, because I wouldn't put up with crap.
Just a little venting on my part and a glimpse into my irritations and pet peeves. All of you who know me.. know I have a lot and a lot of opinions about it! : )

I hope she's feeling better. There's nothing worse than a sick child when you have to work.

There is nothing worse than when one of the little ones feels sick, and you still have to go to work. I hope she feels better soon!!

Sounds like you would be the type of manager a couple of the people you work with could use! Some people need a big ole' dose of "Suck it up, buttercup, and get your butt to work!" once in a while.

Hope the whole fam is tip top in no time!
