We are back to real life, although the return has been smooth. (I did receive my mail yesterday.. and yes most of it was junk.) We cleaned the house before we left and the condo we stayed in had a washer and dryer, so we returned with suitcases full of CLEAN clothes.
Jude can play in the sand all day, with NO interest in the ocean. (he told Jason after he was stung "See Daddy, that is why I don't go into the ocean."). Lily loved the ocean and the sand, (for she is like me.. outdoor adventurer and Jude is like Jason.. sit in and read a book.) Lily liked to get her seesuit on (swimsuit) and play in the WAVES pronounced WAV-ES.

I built many a sand castles, many a holes in the sand for "ponds" and moats. I realized I can not sit still and sunbathe.(not that kids provide much time for that, but Jason offer me that time and I got bored.) I must be doing something or I get bored. So I was happy to get sand everywhere and play.

Fishing off the Pier. Now, let's just say I cut off the fish heads and baited the hooks.... and fished.
This makes the return so smooth, with my only short term task being grocery shopping. Most helpful, I have off until Wednesday, giving me two full weeks off. Fabulous.
So we stayed at the Dunes Village in the residential part of Myrtle Beach. North of all of the craziness, off of Highway 17, home of all of the shell necklaces (which by the way no grown man should don) and beach airbrush t-shirts extravaganza. Around us were either Myrtle Beach locals in large houses, or millionaires with million dollar vacation homes (not the Myrtle Beach most think of). Needless to say it makes for a more peaceful environment. Away from what Jason and I decided is like being trapped in a perpetual festival.
Our resort had a restaurant, a Seattle Coffee shop, indoor water park, outdoor pool and oceanfront private beach. This provided many options with the kids, and many options for my poor husband with his health issues. He actually was able to participate in the vacation more than he anticipated due to the resort amenities and our fabulous beach shelter. He did land a nice Man-O-War injury on Friday in the ocean, our only cloudy day that he could fully participate. Ask him to pull up his pants leg... it's nice. A huge wound followed by major tentacle marks (he had quite a few words, and some banging of the fists on the sand following the Man-O-War attack). I feel bad, I really didn't give him much sympathy at the time when I thought it was just a jelly fish sting (which I have endured multiple times). I feel bad, his is much worse than that.. sorry Jason : ).
All in all it was a successful vacation.

My husband.. clueless. Not sure if he has ever been fishing. The kids were bored, but I will teach them as they get older.
I can bait a hook and fillet a caught fish. I can water ski, put up a tent, snow ski, and kayak with joy. What can Jason do? Let's just say, he didn't come from a out door family. He will have to learn.
Look at Lily's face. Classic MAD Lily. Enlarge the pic for most effective view. (

The pictures are AMAZING! Are you giving the kids growing potion?? They get bigger every time I see a picture! :) Oh...and do I dare say, I see some PINK CROCS?!? Maybe she does have a little of me in her too?? tee hee! Love it!!!
Of course she has the love of PINK. Just like her auntie Angel. She can't get enough. Her favorite colors are PINK, purple, and orange.
And yes, I did cave and get my kids the CROCS. Desite my deep seeded hate for the shoes. I caved.
ONLY b/c they asked for them.
Wow...looks like a great trip! That classic Mad Lily though, I can see it now...FOOT STOMP..."but Daaaaaad, why does it matter if he has a tattoo on his forehead, I like him!"
hehehe...
I love family vacations. It is so great to just spend TIME with each other. That last picture of Lily is PRICELESS!
ps...when's the next time you are invading NYC? I might just have to try and get up there around the same time (Angel - you'll need to build some bunks in the living room). I miss getting the chance to see you and the other Jason once in a while. Thought of you while I was up there and saw the Flushing Meadows sign and remembered the UHaul trip of death out to the ghetto in the middle of nowhere Queens to return the trusty steed you brought Angel up to NYC in after kicking her out of Cincinnati. Somehow I only hear your voice when I see Flushing Meadows now! : )
Hopefully we will get up there this fall sometime! We just got a free night in a hotel b/c they screwed up Jason's trip while there on business.
AHH flushing meadows.
I remember.
Yes, you must come up when we go.
We will let you stay with Angel, unless you can talk the into the bunks : )
We miss getting to see ya up there.
