For a couple of months Jason has been trying to get his iPod fixed at The Apple Store. He has to actually go into the store because the online help didn't work for his iPod. So he went into the EMPTY store one evening only to be told by an pseudo-uber-hip-cool guy, that he had to go online to make an appointment. Reminder: the store was empty. So Jason left.
Last night we had made an appointment for 6:40 at the GENIUS BAR. Well, at 7:20 we had yet to be seen. The store was crazy busy, but we had gone through the proper channels and made our appointment. We actually witnessed someone who complained that they had made an appointment online (who knows if they had... they're name wasn't listed) get in before us. They were taking computer problems before other "gadgets". Anyway, we decided that this was worse than the DMV. We think Fema owns the Genius Bar. Needless to say, we left. With a broken iPod. Maybe they do this on purpose so you'll just buy new crap.
Needless to say, my home computer will never be a MAC. I will never wait in the Genius line again to be waited on by uber cool nerds who have pierced themselves and think they are cool cause' they work in the MALL for Apple. I much prefer my outsourced to India help from DELL.

I thought the phrase "genius bar" was your way of mocking them... Then I looked up and saw it was the REAL name of the help desk.
How obnoxious.
No, if FEMA owned Apple they would tell you that they would help, even take your IPOD for "fixing" and then you would get home and it would not work again. :)
How annoying though! Good grief.
So I was waiting on the subway platform this morning and overheard this guy's telephone conversation, "Yeah they fixed it, but you have to make an appointment online. Something like apple.com/..." Thought of you guys.
having worked for both of those companies, I can honestly say I've never heard of someone wanting to have Dell tech support over Apple tech support.
For the love of God, buy HP.
