2008

First of all... Happy New Year. We actually went out WITHOUT kids and stayed out after midnight this year. WOW. That is big of us. We celebrated New Years Eve with Jason's sister (Laney) and brother in law (Jay), as well as celebrated Jay's
40Th birthday. He has the dreaded New Year's Eve birthday combo. (oh yeah and Jason's birthday was 1/3/08... he's 35..give him some hell).
The kids had a New Years celebration (my kids celebrated about 9pm) with their cousins, Duncan, Megan, and Liz. They had a blast. We came home to Liz and Megan awake and Duncan passed out on the family room floor.. too much non-alcoholic champagne...
The New Year has brought me to food DETOX, and a much needed plan to get back into the running saddle to rid the extra poundages and get in better shape. Me and the rest of the world..which is why I am avoiding the Spinning classes at the gym. Going to the gym in January is like going to church on Christmas or Easter. It is all the people who have great intentions and have many pseudo promises to go more often... it shall fade come February. Lily decided that she would bring in the New Year by having a very healthy breakfast to start 2008 off on the right foot. She went downstairs and helped herself to the chocolate chip cookies and Cheetos, that were on the counter, for breakfast. She ate alone, but came back to us with evidence of cheese dust and chocolate smears around her mouth. That's my girl!
This New Year brings me to eat better, swear less, and challenge myself to complete a few races. The Heart Mini Marathon, the Flying Pig (I have a nick name from 2 of my friends who are relaying with me.. Asphalt Amie) and hopefully the State to State 1/2 Marathon in September. The most fun however... The Loveland Amazing Race in June. We already have our start time. Whoo hoo large slip-n-slides and mud pits!
Oh yeah, and my Christmas cards turned New Year cards... um not happening.
Maybe they could be Valentine cards? Or maybe that should be my New Year's resolution... not procrastinating the cards this year.

I too hate January-joiners, see Urban Dictionary for the definition. They are there to foul up the pool, talk in the steam room, and run amuck with all my personal hates at the gym. Not welcome--they are an offensive bunch.

I was just talking about Detoxing, but I decided to have a glass of wine and think about it. HA!

Mollie.. I SAID FOOD DETOX.
You can have a glass of wine or beer.. just no cookies to think about it.

Maybe you should just forget the Christmas cards altogether!

I'm loving Lily's breakfast... Did you get a picture?

You'll have to give me the story on Asphalt Amie sometime.

Suweeeeet! I hadn't thought about the whole January-joiner thing, but sounds like a good reason to take January off from the ole YMCA. Thanks, I would have felt guilty before, but now I know I have a good reason for not going!

hehehe...Happy New Year!
