Illness

So for the week after Christmas, I was handed the gift of strep throat. This came with a 103.5 F fever and the inablility to eat or drink (may not be a bad thing). Luckily for me, I was suppose to work so daycare was already scheduled for 2 days. Two days should be enough time to recover. I haven't had this in over 10 years, but I am sure I will be fine in two days. So here I sit on the 4th day... still not up to par. LOSER, is it because I am 31? So will it take me 8 days to recover when I am 60? Lets just say being ill as a parent sucks. Yes, I laid in bed for two days (besides my 2 hour of waiting hell in the MD office), while Jason carted the kids back a forth and cared for them.. and he was freyed at the edges... : ) Friday, still not up to par, Jason stayed home. Friday is when it hit me........ the laundry piled up, two dinners I had marinated to prepare this week... gone bad, and work.. ..I am sure my desk is covered with crap for me. It just doesn't pay to get sick as an adult, but especially as a parent. So I am on call this weekend for the recovery room and one of our surgeons is operating shortly after he had been given IV fluids by one of our RN's because he had the flu. He gets the fluids.. and keeps on operating. Now you are all thinking either "he shouldn't operate" or "what a dedicated man!" Neither my friend, he has NO CHOICE. He is on call and he must persevere through.(I have so many stories of the sort that I could write a novel) But the moral of my story (for me) is that I am so happy that I have the option to stay home when I am sick.

Yuck! I hope you recover very soon. I had it at Thanksgiving - it was a nasty, nasty bug.

Lovely! I am just getting over my first ever sinus infection, so I feel your pain! Hope you are feeling LOTS better now!
